NEONSOL is an electropop band based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The band's objective is to create, release and perform dark, dreamy and danceable music.

History

Neonsol was founded by Nina Io and Jesper Io in 2009. The early days of the project were spent writing music and doing demo productions.

The first time that Neonsol's music was presented to a broader audience, was at a Neonsol concert, that took place at a private party in Norway in 2010. The show included four tracks, of which only one track - Citadel - made it further than to this show.

In 2012, Canadian artist and producer Frédéric Scarfone joined the band. With his experience from working with artists like Memmaker and Iszoloscope - and his own project NORAD - he took the Neonsol sound from the bedroom production level to something that would soon yield international interest for the band.

Neonsol started playing more live shows, released several tracks online and on home made promotion cd's - and also contributed with tracks to a couple of compilation released.

The initial self-released Neonsol material was noticed by the UK based independent label AnalogueTrash records, who offered to release Neonsol's debut album on their label.

The following year was spent producing the 10 track album 'Ecliptic' which was released in October 2014. Since then, Neonsol has played several shows in Denmark as well as in the UK, Sweden and Norway, released two EP's (also on AnalogueTrash Records) and contributed with tracks to quite a few compilation albums.

Since 2024 Neonsol has reverted to function as a duo again - and after a long break from playing live shows Neonsol returned to the stage again - with a new live keyboardist - in early 2025.

The purpose of this website is to document Neonsol's work and activities. The site consolidates highly structured and detailled information about all Neonsol tracks ever released or performed - as well as in-depth information about all Neonsol live shows.
