NEONSOL is an electropop band based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The band's objective is to create, release and perform dark, dreamy and danceable music. |

Neonsol was founded by Nina Io and Jesper Io in 2009. The early days of the project were spent writing music and doing demo productions.The first time that Neonsol's music was presented to a broader audience, was at a Neonsol concert, that took place at a private party in Norway in 2010. The show included four tracks, of which only one track - Citadel - made it further than to this show. 
In 2012, Canadian artist and producer Fred Scarfone joined the band. With his experience from working with artists like Memmaker and Iszoloscope - and his own project NORAD - he took the Neonsol sound from the bedroom production level to something that would soon yield international interest for the band.Neonsol started playing more live shows, released several tracks online and on home made promotion cd's - and also contributed with tracks to a couple of compilation releases.
Since 2024 Neonsol has reverted to function as a duo again - and after a long break from playing live shows Neonsol returned to the stage again - with a new live keyboardist - in early 2025. |
The purpose of this section of the Neonsol website is to present Neonsol information that does not fit in anywhere else on the site.
BLVD#137 Studios
The vocal recordings for most of Neonsol's tracks were done at BLVD#137 Studios at Vesterbro in Copenhagen, Denmark.The studio was located at what used to be the train ticket sales outlet at Enghave Station, which had been converted into a sound studio with a proper vocal recording booth available. On the image you can see Nina recording vocals for our then upcoming EP Another Day back in 2016. The ticket sales, the studio and Enghave Station are no more, as they were all demolished shortly after the recordings took place.
The Hocico Remix
The Mexican band Hocico remixed the Neonsol track Manipulation back in 2018. Hocico has always been - and still is - a cherised favourite with Neonsol's lead singer Nina Io. This was known by some of the band's very best friends, who secretly arranged for the remix to be done without Nina's or Jesper's knowledge, with the intention of giving the remix as a wedding present to them after their wedding in 2016.The remix was pressed on the 12" vinyl record shown next to this article. This is currently the only vinyl record ever being pressed containing Neonsol music. Since it would have been a shame not to distribute this remix to a broader audience, it was included as Neonsols contribution to the Beat:Cancer compilation album in 2018.
The lyrics tattoo
The photo on the right is shown here as it depicts a tattoo of the first line of the chorus of the Neonsol track Heat.The girl on the photo is from the UK and we were told that she got it done as the lyrics of Heat had a very special meaning to her. Needless to say that it means the world to the band when anyone finds comfort or inspiration in the work that we do. The tattoo reads 'How much heat can you take?' |
